FAQs

Q?

I have connected the E-Containerlock to the USB socket on my PC. The Red LED is flashing.

A.

Not all USB sockets are able to produce sufficient current to charge the unit.

Q?

I have connected the E-Containerlock to a wall charger and the red LED is flashing. The Wall charger is rated a 1A. Why is it not charging?

A.

Whilst the charger may be rated for 1A the USB cable may not be able to carry that much current, or if the cable is not that which came with the charger it may just be a data cable. Please try a different cable or charger.

Q?

I have connected the E-Containerlock and the red Led is on. I assume this means the unit is charging. How long will a charge take?

A.

The Red LED will change to a Green LED when charging is complete. The duration of the charging cycle will depend on the battery level prior to charging. A completely flat battery with a charger capable of charging a 1A will take approximately 5-6hours to reach full charge. Please note that even chargers that are labelled as able to provide a 1000mA or 1A charge may in fact fall below this level.

Q?

I have connected the E-Containerlock to a wall charger after a little use and the Red LED has come on and remains on. How long will it take to charge the unit?

A.

If the E-Containerlock was already above a certain battery level (4035mV) the charge protection circuits will not take any further charge. This is to protect the battery from unnecessary charging which could reduce its life.

Q?

I have connected the E-Containerlock to a wall charger and after 10 seconds the Red LED has changed to a flashing LED why this is?

A.

E-Containerlock is fitted with a smart charging chip to ensure no damage is done to either the device or whatever it is connected to. The flashing LED indicates that the charger EContainerlock is fitted to is unable to provide the 1Amp of current necessary to charge.

Q?

I have multiple units in use at the same location and at times some units do not report in on their scheduled reports.

A.

This can be due to the fact that all the units may be trying to connect via a single GSM cell mast at the same time. The GSM cell will always have limited capabilities in accepting new connections. To solve this spread your scheduled reporting using the scheduling options on the Reports configurations document.

Q?

The reports do not seem to coincide with the time I am expecting.

A.

Check in preference on the tracking page that you have set your preferred time zone.

Q?

I have looked on the tracking platform but I cannot see a scheduled report.

A.

The unit may not currently be able to communicate via the GSM network. When a GSM connection is available all stored reports and any alerts will delivered

Q?

I have a fitted the unit and saw a green LED confirming activation but I cannot see the unit on the platform

A.

Tick the unit on the group dropdown menu on the atlas page.

Q?

I have fitted the E-Containerlock and saw a green LED at the end of the activation sequence. I have not received an activation alert.

A.

Check that your alert email has not gone to your spam folder

Q?

Is The E-Containerlock ready to use ‘out of the box’?

A.

Yes, unless previously arranged the device is ready to be fitted.

Q?

I have fitted the device onto a container but I get a Red LED

A.

Check the fitting sensor is not dirty.

Q?

I have fitted the device on a container but there are no activation LEDs.

A.

The unit may be trying to transmit a report that it was previously unable to do. The activation sequence will take place after this has happen. The latest activation will also be ‘in the system’ and E-Containerlock is monitoring the integrity of your shipment.

Q?

The container I want to fit the E-Containerlock to has a damaged locking bar on the right hand door. What can I do?

A.

It is perfectly acceptable to fit the unit onto the inner locking gear on the left hand door. Simple rotate the unit and fit in the normal way.

Q?

I have fitted the E-Containerlock and saw a green LED at the end of the activation sequence.

A.

The unit may not currently be able to communicate via the GSM network.

Q?

I have a fitted the unit and saw a green LED confirming activation and I have the unit ticked on the group drop down menu but I cannot see the unit on the platform

A.

The unit may not yet have been able to communicate via the GSM network

Q?

I have a fitted the unit and saw a green LED confirming activation but the unit is not showing the location where it was fitted.

A.

If the unit is unable to get a good GPS fix prior to sending the activation report it will use the last know position? It will update the GPS position when it has a good fix and next reports. The unit is however monitoring the container and will report and activity, even if the GPS fix has not been acquired.
